Unknown Pain

It is tender, and quiet, sensitive and true,
It is rambunchous at times, and very loud too!
Sometimes it laughs, and sometimes it cries.
Sometimes it’s hurting because of some awful lies.

The pain it feels is so very real,
It’s passed off as a stage,
They don’t know how it will feel.
The hurt is so bad; it carries it through life,
It cries in agony, the pain and the strife.
It is tormented at times and pushed aside,
Sometimes it’s abused, and it will run to hide.

The attention it needs is sooo great!
What it gets is so little it will affect its fate.
But its love is unconditional
No matter what you do.
Just please think again when you yell or argue.
Think about the hurt and pain it must feel,
When it’s reminded of every bad ordeal.

This thing that I’m talking about is very small,
It’s overlooked so often, that it can’t wait to be tall.
But Jesus will hold it, and deliver His love,
He will cradle it and hug it and promise what’s above.
So the next time you show anger, or get really wild,
Try putting yourself in the shoes of your child.
