"To God Be The Glory"

As I look forward to Easter day
I remember the price our Savior paid.
Jesus bore our sins upon the cross
so that we would not be forever lost.

Our Father's love was so great
He sent His Son to bear our pain.
We lost our fellowship with Him
because of foolishness and sin.

God gave us perfect harmony
and let us rule over everything.
He walked with us and talked with us
and bestowed upon us perfect love.

God gave to us eternal life
but we gave it up for Satan's lies.
It wasn't what our Father wanted
but He gave man free will and
He gave us warning.

It broke God's heart when man
turned away and Satan took rule
over us that day.
We had gone too far to turn back now,
when we disobeyed God
sin entered our hearts.

The only way we could be redeemed
was by the sacrifice of a sinless man.
There was no such man on this earth,
but our Father still loved us
and wanted us home. He said
"I'll send my Son, who has never sinned
to live on earth as a perfect man."

It grieved God's heart because He knew
the agony and grief His Son must endure.
He would be spat upon and despised
as evil men fought to take His life.

The Father gave Him power to escape
At any time He could turn away and
no man could touch Him or do Him harm.
Of Jesus own will the sacrifice was made.
He was nailed to the cross,
He turned not away.

Jesus loves us with a perfect love and
He went to the cross to buy us back.
He paid the price for our every sin.
All our stripes were layed on Him.

The skies turned dark on Calvary's hill as
He bore the pain for the sin's of the world.
He defeated Satan forever that day,
He shed His innocent blood
that we might be saved.

Now all we must do to be free forever
is invite Jesus in as our Lord and Savior.
