The Child Within
As I watch my children play
I think back on another day.
A time of innocence pure and dear,
no worries to cloud a day of cheer.
Bare feet running through the grass,
I smell the sweetness of the past.
Sunshine warm upon my head,
sun dried sheets upon my bed.
Snuggling against my daddy's knee
mommy baking treats for me.
Feeling safe, secure and loved
I thanked my Father up above.
As I look back to times so dear
I want to hug my children near.
Tell them I love them, make it last
so they will remember
their own perfect past.
