The Battle
I went out to fight the enemy
Without my shield and sword
My strength was left behind me
For I did not take the Lord
I thought I could defeat him
In my own time and way
I thought I would be strong enough
Without the need to pray
The enemy laughed in my face
And knocked me off my feet
I'd grieved the heart of God again
By ceding to defeat
I slipped off in the darkness
Hurting from the blow
But the wound inside was greater
Than were given by the foe
I fought the enemy and lost
A soldier in disdain
A battle lost but not the war
I sought God strength to gain
Tomorrow I'll go out again
This time I'll take the Lord
I shall defeat this enemy
For God shall be my sword
