Pink Chiffon and Lace
She was born with a rare infirmity
and wore crutches as a child.
She couldn’t run with the other kids,
so she'd watch from the window inside.
In her teens her condition worsened.
Nothing in her life seemed right!
She was labeled an outcast
with no hope of change in sight.
Soon a young woman bound to her chair,
self esteem at an all time low.
No phone calls or visits from anyone...
her escape was her radio.
She would dream she was a ballerina
dressed in pink chiffon and lace.
Turning, turning to the music
with a smile upon her face
The audience was captivated
by her beauty beyond compare.
Never before had anyone danced
with such passion and grace so rare.
Then she would awaken
to find her legs all wrapped in steel.
Her dreams of dancing were only dreams,
no movement could she feel.
She had heard about the Saviour
and wondered what He’d say
if she humbly called upon Him
to take her pain away.
"Dearest Lord, forgive me...
for my faith has not been strong,
and though I couldn’t see you,
You’ve been here all along.
I know that I'm not worthy,
but I’m asking if you’d please
release me from this bondage
And bring my spirit peace."
A few more days would linger
before her pain would end....
Adorned in pink chiffon and lace,
She met her new-found Friend.
He welcomed her with open arms,
At last her soul was free!
He smiled and softly whispered,
"Would you care to dance with me?"
