The Painful Years

While yet an innocent babe
I saw the path of life so clear.
Scanning visions of the great beyond
With eyes too young to understand
Shapes and sounds were everywhere
Separated from the ones I held so dear

Flashes came before my eyes
Mom and dad had said goodbyes
My sister too was lost to me
Only the good Lord knew what this meant to me

From out of the shadows the darkness rose
Bringing pain, loneliness, grief and so much woes
My lips stuttered as the words were sealed
Raging floods and murky waters had become a part of me
Roaming this world, I thought, What would become of me?
Suddenly a heavenly light shone all around
A sweet and dear little angel I had found

Today, now grown, I no longer roam
For the loving Saviour has brought me home

As I look upon my baby girl
A pretty picture, a treasured pearl
I'll ask the Lord to be her guide
And stay forever by her side.
