Missy

Missy sat contentedly
At play there on the floor
Singing to her dolly
As Mom watched from the door

Missy had leukemia
A word that struck such fear
And every day with Missy
Her mom now held most dear

She couldn't bear to lose her
The pain was just too great
How could she go on smiling
Knowing Missy's fate

Jesus loves me 'dis I know
Sang Missy to her doll
For 'da bible tells me so
As mom turned toward the wall

The tears began to freely flow
Messing with her sight
While Missy sang her little song
The room was bathed in light

Missy sang of Jesus
His love now in the room
As His gentle hand reached out
Dispelling all the gloom

Darkness had been banished
As rays of light revealed
Her Jesus Missy sang about
Had come and she was healed

The simple faith of a little girl
Singing to her doll
Had moved the heart of Jesus
To heal her once for all

We must have the child like faith
That Missy had that day
It moves the heart of Jesus
To answer when we pray
