Love Me, Love Me Not

Now that I am all grown up, I question God a lot.
Lord, do You love me, or do you love me not?
I tried to be so good today, I helped my fellow man.
I read my Bible for awhile, to figure out Your plan.

Lord, I said a prayer for someone, maybe even two.
Dad, is that enough, or should I spend more time with You?
I'm trying very hard to do all that You have taught.
Still, I ask, do You love me, or do you love me not?

Sometimes I think I've done ok, and that You must be proud.
Other times, I know I've failed, and then I cry out loud.
I'm trying to be good, but it's harder than I thought.
My heart says that You Love me, but my mind says You do not.

Oh Dad, I feel so sad, as love's petals drift away.
Thinking You don't love me, because of what I do or say.
I wish I'd stayed a little child, so happy and carefree.
I don't remember then, questioning Your love for me.

Oh precious little one, you still are my loving child.
Shhhh....quiet down my little bride, for I am meek and mild.
Listen to Your Dad, and calm Your restless spirit.
Come close and feel My Love, you do not need to fear it.

I told you that I loved you, and I will not take that back.
It's not about how good you are, or where you think you lack.
It's the tender heart within you, that wants so much to please.
Not the things you do or say, trying to appease.

Remember your salvation, and the joy that you had?
I loved you then, I love you now, so why are you so sad?
I am your first Love, little bride, and you are truly mine.
So do not worry, lift your head, now let me see you shine.

You asked Me, do I love you, or do I love you not?
Ever since creation, you are all that I have sought.
Rest my precious little bride, My Love is pure and true,
And My answer will always be, Yes...I DO love you.
