A Lifetime Apart

We were a life time apart,
but you were still dear to my heart.
When we were young,
we played together as one.
A black cloud fell over us and we grew apart,
but you always remained in my heart.
You and your mother were very dear to me,
but our lives together were not meant to be.

Where we shared blue skies and sun,
overheard still remained that black cloud
that made us run.

Shielded by love, guarded from hurt and pain,
my mother took me away to brighten my day.
We were never to be as one again.

Miles apart, with road blocks stopping our path,
we lost touch with each other, never to play again.
Afraid to look, for fear of what we might find.

Out of the heaven's you came into my life again.
We're all grown up now, not afraid of being hurt
by that black cloud that loomed over us
when we were young.

Our lives can be free of the hurt and pain,
just you and I being friends again.
So glad we found our family that was lost.
Now we have a chance to renew
all the years that were lost.
