Jonah's Plight Luke 12:4
Jo--nah, Jonah,
I have some work for you!
Go on down to Ninevah
Just like I ask you to.
The people are immoral
And caught up in sin's employ
Go tell them to repent
So they won't be destroyed.
"But Lord, I don't want to.
Can't you see I'm filled with fear?
I think instead I'll run away
And get far away from here!"
Jonah hopped the next ship
And out to sea did flee.
What happened next to Jonah
Is sure no mystery.
God's will is sovereign.
Jonah didn't understand
That God wanted Ninevah saved,
Each and every man.
The sea grew violent.
The ship tossed and turned.
Everyone aboard would die
If Jonah did not return.
Jonah was cast overboard,
Into the sea he went!
He was swallowed by a whale
That Almighty God had sent.
Yes, God had Jonah's attention
And he began to moan and chill
He learned it's not a good idea
To run from the Lord's known will.
Jonah's life was saved as
He was spewed upon dry land.
He was ready now to listen
To the Lord's direct command.
He went to Ninevah and preached
A message loud and clear.
The people repented of their sin
And unto the Lord drew near.
There's a lesson to be learned
From Jonah, in all of this.
Don't wait to be obedient
Until your in the belly of a fish!
