"He Waits For Me"

I am so much more than your eyes do see,
for my true self dwells within this mere body.

I am a light, burning bright from within,
a living spirit who battles everyday with Satan's sin.

But I have a Champion who laid down his very life for me.
His name is Jesus Christ, and he was killed on Calvary.

His precious blood, that was spilled by men of hate,
now paves the narrow path for every soul seeking Heaven's gate.

Now, no matter my problems, no matter my cares,
I only have to call on his name, and my 'comforter' is there.

This old body is just a tent, molded by God from mere dust,
and I must confess sometimes its 'hinges' seem to rust.

But as for my SOUL, I hope and pray,
through heaven's gate it will fly one day.

What joy to be with my Lord in his mansion prepared,
large enough for all of us to be there.

How wondrous Heaven must be! To be without pain,
and walk upon streets of pure gold throughout eternity!
