In this life there will be bridges that you must cross alone.
There will be decisions that you must make on your own.
Some things you must learn from your own mistakes
and there will be times when you feel your heart will break.

I wish I never had to leave you to face this world alone,
but I know there will come a time when I must let go.
If I could take your heartaches and toss them to the wind,
I would wipe away your tears and replace them with a grin.

I know I'll make mistakes while you are growing up,
and if at times I am too hard, please know it's out of love.
I'm just a mere parent with a child that I adore and
I don't have all the answers to protect you from this world.

So in the years ahead I'll spend much time in prayer,
asking God for wisdom to teach you right from wrong and
for the strength to let you go, so He can make you strong.
I'll ask Him to go with you on your journey through this life
and always to protect you and help you get it right.

Of all the things I teach you I hope these stand out most,
Pray and Believe and always put Love first.
