Evening Prayer
Lord, the day is ending,
The Sun's setting in the west;
I've put aside my labors,
And look forward to my rest.
As I kneel and say Goodnight,
And reflect upon my day;
I wonder if I've done enough,
To please you Lord today.
I gave a loaf of bread
To the beggar at my door;
I listened to his tale of woe,
Could I have done much more?
I sat with the Widow, shared her grief,
But then I had to go;
I left her weeping all alone,
I'm ashamed of leaving her so!
Lord, when you made us in your image,
You left out the perfect part;
Forgive me all my shortcomings
Just see what's in my heart.
