At The Cross

I knelt at the cross one day
and asked God to wash my sins away.
He cleansed me of all my sins
and said, "now my child begin again."
I arose and started on my way,
I meant to keep my promise,
I really did.

Somewhere along the way,
I neglected to do as He had bid.
I closed my eyes to what was going on,
and pretended to myself
that nothing was wrong.

Then one day as death was very near,
everythinng I had done,
became crystal clear.
I found myself at the cross once again,
because I knew that I had been in sin.
He said to me, with tears in His eyes,
"I have truly heard your cries.
Your sins are still forgiven and
you are welcome here in Heaven."
