A Cold Winters Night

On a cold winters night, love lifted me
It was time for my friend to be set free
The room was quiet, not a word spoken
Trying to hold on to a life that has been broken

All of a sudden the heart beat stopped
I could feel the pain of my heart being chopped
But in a second I looked to see
God had taken my friend, and had rescued me
His face as bright as a shining day
His love in my heart forever to stay

One taken to heaven, one left behind
To be what God wanted, loving and kind.
As I left that place that cold winters night
The birds softly sang "You'll be alright!"
